Student Elections is a ready-made, free civic education tool. Your school doesn't need to design anything or pay for anything, just provide a room and some time around the real election date. Students get to try the whole voting process for real, with real candidates, and with the real responsibility of an election commission.
What you need to arrange
- A three-student election commission to run the vote at the school.
- A teacher as guarantor, acting as the contact person and providing oversight.
- A voter list of students aged 15 and over.
- A polling room and ballot box for election day.
- Your own promotion among students, posters, announcements, social media.

Your school's privacy
Your school's specific results are never published publicly. Only aggregated data for the district or region goes into the published results, so your school can reflect on its own experience without outside comparison.
Timeline
For example, in the 2022 municipal and regional elections (real election date 29 October 2022), school elections ran in the week of 17 to 21 October, with results published on 21 October, right before the real election day. The exact timeline changes every year depending on the type of election.
